About the Position
The Children’s Minister plays a major role in the faith development of children and families in the
life of Temple Lutheran Church and beyond, both as a leader and as an example. Temple seeks a person who has a solid relationship with Jesus through faithful study, prayer, and worship, and is able to transfer their passion to the nurture of children, youth and families in the Christian faith. This person should be familiar with or willing to learn ministry trends and practices for the church in the twenty-first century. We seek a creative, enthusiastic, organized, strong administrator who is self-motivated, and who appreciates the collaborative spirit of serving with a dedicated ministry team. The Children’s Minister is adventurous and adept at planning, preparing and executing in a timely fashion as well as accepting direction and suggestions from the ministry team.

Applicants must be able to obtain and provide all required criminal background clearances and child abuse clearances in accordance with federal and Pennsylvania law.
Responsibilities
1. Plan, conduct and evaluate a comprehensive program of spiritual ministry the children of Temple Lutheran Church and their families.
2. Be willing to be an active member of a team, willing to lead and willing to follow.
3. Meet periodically with a Children’s Ministry Committee made up of parents and other church leaders to envision a new program moving forward.
4. Meet regularly with the pastor to check in and plan future programs.
5. Be available to meet with families, teachers, and other church staff.
6. Provide information as needed to keep the “Kids” section of our website up-to-date. Our webmaster will update the site as you see fit.
7. Work with facilities and cleaning team to keep classrooms clean and organized.
8. Supervise all programing for children. This includes but is not limited to a monthly event (usually seasonally specific).
9. Plan and implement training for Children’s Ministry volunteers whenever necessary.
10. Be present each Sunday from 10:00 – 11:30 AM to assure programming runs smoothly, to provide support for teachers, and occasionally deliver children’s sermons.
11. Knowledge of procedures for creating a safe environment for children including how to report incidents of abuse and background checks on all volunteers who come into contact with children. We already have a volunteer who diligently keeps our clearances on file.
12. Connect with new families and continue ongoing connection with families throughout the year.
